Woodward Spanish
Woodward Spanish is a branch of Woodward Education. Woodward Education is a family owned and run organization that started in Chile as Woodward Chile in 2002.
After 15 years of incredible success with their Language school in Las Condes, Santiago, the owners (Rob and Ange) moved to New Zealand so their children could experience part of their childhood in an English-speaking country. Now, Rob and Angélica are helping people learn languages for free.
Why was the Woodward Spanish School so successful?
We take pride in the quality of everything we do. Almost all of our Spanish students came by recommendation since we went out of our way to make our students' experiences here in Chile positive and rewarding ones. Over the 15 years, we never had a single salesperson or agent, and that says something about its quality, doesn't it?
Why didn't you continue with the school or sell it?
First, we didn't want to sell our school because we are not willing to part with our Woodward brand (which is well known) as we continue to use it online. Something that is very important for us is to spend time together as a family. A language school involves a lot of commitment and we were not willing to continue working 8am-9pm every day and miss out on seeing our kids grow up. We also discovered that it was hard to find a manager with the same level of commitment as us and how we wanted our students learning to be a priority above all else.
Even today we still get lots of people asking for classes (because of word of mouth), though we have to say we no longer do Spanish Classes (other than for the occasional celebrity who requires quality and privacy). :)
