Éxito vs. Salida

Many English speakers incorrectly translate the Spanish word éxito as 'exit'.

Éxito looks like the word exit in English but it is a false friend. This means that the words appear similar in both languages but they both have a different meaning.

Éxito is a noun that means success.

If you want to say the word exit in Spanish, you have to use the word 'Salida'.

If you look at the exit signs in different stores, restaurants etc. they will say Salida.

• El éxito es como un tren, todos los días pasa pero si no te subes tú se subirá otro.
• Una persona no vale por sus éxitos, sino de las veces que se ha levantado de sus fracasos.
• El éxito es el premio del esfuerzo para conseguirlo.

• Esa es una calle sin salida.
• Deben firmar una autorización ante notario permitiendo la salida de su hijo al extranjero.
• Estoy de acuerdo con la salida de Sr. Prieto de la presidencia.
• La única salida que tenemos para garantizar el proceso de paz, es el intercambio humanitario.
