Spanish Course Methodology
Woodward Chile
Our classes are orientated towards the communicative development of our students both orally and written.
Spanish Only
Our classes are entirely in Spanish, even at the basic levels. Our Spanish teachers have years of experience teaching in this situation so even though you may not know a single word to begin with, you will be surprised just how much you will pick up in a very short time. We use complete Spanish immersion so that you get used to hearing and using the language. The more you hear and experiment with Spanish, the easier it will be to understand it and apply it in real life situations.
Most of our staff have experienced learning other languages and being in a country where we don't know their language. We know exactly what it's like to be in this type of situation and the types of things you need to know in order to get by (and basically survive without getting into too much trouble). That's why we teach you what you really need to know to get by and enjoy your time here, things which often cannot be found in any typical Spanish book.
Our own teaching material
We don't restrict the students by making them go through a book in class little by little (you can do that at home). We want our students to learn real Spanish that they can really use in day to day life as quickly as possible.
Over the years we have created our own material including many interactive activities and games that won't be found elsewhere. Our teaching methodology and academic material is continually being updated to relate to the modern world.
A number of our classes have newly implemented Interactive electronic whiteboards (including wireless pads) with real images and audio making our teaching material even more advanced (and interesting) than traditional classes.
Evaluations
Students are evaluated in every class where a score is written on your personal student file. This mark reflects your oral Spanish. After every 20 hours stduents also do a written level evaluation to see how they are progressing and what areas they need to improve in. After each written evaluation we also give a report about the student's strengths and weaknesses and how to improve in those areas. It is important for our students to be competent both speaking AND in writing.
Study Study Lounge
We have a study lounge where students can come to do additional exercises, read through the books in our library or just come to relax on the sofa! Between 12 and 7pm we have a personal language trainer available who can guide you in the correct direction for any help you may need. Students hang out here even if they don't have classes that day!
